Career Technical Education Programs (CTE) are an important asset in developing talent for skilled trades specifically for the collision industry. There are many barriers to getting into the collision industry; including, the cost of tuition, tools, and the technical as well as soft skills needed. Many CTE programs supported by The Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) are not only underfunded programs but are also Title 1 schools and/or are located in underserved communities. CREF works to support and remove barriers for all individuals, especially for low-income and underrepresented populations including but not limited to first-generation, women, veterans, foster care youth, students with disabilities, and second-language students. CREF looks to advance equity in the communities we serve by partnering with local CTE programs with the common goal of ensuring each student receives what they need to be successful in the workplace. CREF strives to advance equity through collaborating with organizations like the Woman’s Industry Network as well as direct support in the form of scholarships, tool grants, career fairs, and job readiness training.
